The media didn’t report any sensational news following his visit. Israel agreed to allow aid, including food, water, and medicine, into Gaza through Egypt. In exchange, Israel reportedly received significant security assistance, the details of which remain unspecified, likely due to their sensitive nature.
As soon as President Biden was airborne, things returned to normal, including missile attacks. However, the brief period of calm allowed me a chance to disconnect slightly. I started job hunting, as many of my tour groups have been canceled, and it looks like there won’t be any until November or December unless there’s an unexpected calm in the region. After all, I still need to make a living.

Ruth, a 16-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, tragically met her end along with her father. They had attended a festival, and since the attack of Hamas, fears had risen when Ruth’s motorized wheelchair was found abandoned in the area.
Today, their bodies were discovered.
It’s a heartbreaking conclusion to the search for the father who had taken his daughter with special needs to a festival.
Ruth, reliant on her wheelchair, was cherished for the time she spent with her father, who was devoted to her. That fateful day at the festival, which they never returned from, was supposed to be another such occasion.
Amidst the chaos of the rocket barrage and the infiltration of Hamas terrorists at the festival, communication with them was lost. For 12 days, they were considered missing. After the area was secured, their car, riddled with bullets, was found without them.
The scale of the tragedy in Kibbutz Bari continues to unfold. Initially, it was known that 112 residents had been killed. Now, with the recent discovery of two more bodies, this grim toll has risen to 114. Among the deceased is an unidentified 5-year-old boy, found in a burnt house where he had tried to hide from the attackers. Another victim, a woman, remains unidentified.
Twelve days after the incident that ignited this war, the continuous discovery of bodies amidst the ruins is a stark reminder of the horrific acts perpetrated by Hamas.

I intentionally include a variety of content in my updates, covering the stories of those murdered, the abductees and their families, as well as political matters. I do this deliberately to avoid overwhelming you with only tragic and horrifying stories, as I don’t want to lead you into a state of depression.

The schedule for funerals in Kibbutz Kfar Azza is densely packed for tomorrow alone, reflecting the daily reality faced by this community. This situation is replicated across 21 settlements and kibbutzim that have suffered massacres by Hamas.
In Kibbutz Be’eri alone, over 100 people were killed.

Nevo and Adi were on the verge of engagement.
From their first meeting, Nevo knew she was the one. Adi was aware that he intended to propose, and he had even purchased her dream ring — a large sapphire with three small diamonds, just as she wished. However, she insisted on joining the reserve forces to lend a hand where needed.
At Adi’s funeral, Nevo sought her forgiveness, regretting not having proposed while she was still alive.

Since the war’s outbreak, significant evacuations have occurred on the civilian front in Israel. A total of 60,000 people have been evacuated to Eilat and another 8,000 to hotels in the Dead Sea region.
The Eilat Municipality and Tamar Regional Council have been central in caring for evacuees since the war began. Approximately 60,000 evacuees have arrived in Eilat, and about 8,000 have reached Dead Sea hotels, both through organized and private means. Currently, these authorities are supporting evacuees using their own budgets, anticipating future state compensation.
Eli Lankri from Eilat and Nir Wenger from the Tamar Regional Council proactively mobilized their respective authority’s resources and employees to assist evacuees. Lankri notes that while Eilat is accustomed to hosting visitors, the current situation is different, with people arriving in dire circumstances.
The municipality of Eilat established a help center with 12 operators to manage accommodation inquiries. Despite full occupancy in hotels and other accommodations, the municipality is not financing evacuee stays but expects state compensation for organized evacuations.
Additionally, three logistics centers were set up to centralize donations and meet various needs. These centers are manned by volunteers and municipal staff. Daily, 5,000 food baskets are distributed in Eilat, and 17 psychological assistance centers operate with the help of volunteer social workers.
Lankri emphasizes the necessity of taking responsibility in these circumstances but acknowledges that as the situation prolongs and more people arrive, state-level preparation and support become essential. He stresses that while local authorities have shouldered the responsibility thus far, future planning and assistance from the state will be crucial for sustained management of this situation.

In the aftermath of the war, there has been an outpouring of donations for evacuees, including clothes, books, toys, and various other items. This response is due to the fact that many people were left with nothing after the massacre, having to flee with only the clothes they were wearing.
Prior to the war, Israel experienced significant political division, with elements within the government pushing towards less democratic ideals. This situation created a deep rift among the populace. However, a notable outcome of the war has been a reunification of the people. Differences that once seemed insurmountable have been set aside, fostering a sense of unity and understanding that differing opinions do not equate to disloyalty to the country.
The unity and cooperation seen among the people in response to the war is both remarkable and heartening. However, it is lamentable that such a tragic event, marked by extreme violence and loss, was the catalyst for this renewed sense of community and solidarity.

This video was captured on the sixth day of the war at the central donation warehouse of an organization known as Brothers in Arms, a key player in the demonstrations against Netanyahu’s government.
This organization, often criticized and labeled as traitors or leftists for their oppositional stance, transformed its logistical infrastructure to support survivors during these troubled times.
Their efforts led to a shift in public perception, with many who previously criticized them now recognizing their contributions and referring to them as “Angels in Arms.”
In this video, American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is seen at the Expo Tel Aviv logistics center, alongside volunteers and various protest groups that have united to form an effective aid organization.
Blinken’s presence and his message of hope are meant to inspire and encourage the people of Israel and the Jewish community, affirming that hope, Israel, and the State of Israel will prevail and rebuild.

The essence of a Jewish state is exemplified by the actions taken in Tel Aviv during the first day of the war. When it came to providing food, there were food trucks that couldn’t be brought into the bases due to kosher restrictions.
Instead of debating the issue, prominent figures like Eyal Shani, Yuval Ben Naria, and others from the “brothers” organization took pragmatic action.
They issued temporary kosher certificates to ensure that the food trucks could serve everyone. This decision, made quietly and without contention, reflects the spirit of inclusivity and practical problem-solving. It illustrates how, in a Jewish state, diverse needs are met with understanding and cooperation, ensuring that everyone is catered to, especially in times of crisis.
This is a reflection of what a Jewish state truly represents.

In the shared video, an academic from the University of Oxford provides a 10-minute analysis of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The speaker makes a point about the perceived intellectual laxity in the Arab world, which the sender of this message considers an overly broad generalization. Despite this, the speaker delves into the complexities of the conflict, offering insights that captivate the listener.
The sender encourages watching the video for a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, noting its value in contributing to a more nuanced perspective.
While not fully agreeing with every point made, especially the generalizations about the Arab world’s intellect, the sender finds the content informative and worth the time spent watching.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s recent proposition regarding the fate of Palestinians fleeing the Gaza Strip starkly illustrates his priorities, which seem less about the well-being of Gazans and more about preventing their relocation to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Despite framing the suggestion to shelter Palestinians in the Negev as a temporary solution amid the war between Hamas with Israel, the underlying motive appears rooted in security concerns and the desire to avoid a refugee influx into Sinai.
This stance underscores a pragmatic, if not self-serving, approach to regional geopolitics, emphasizing Egypt’s interests over humanitarian considerations for Gaza’s displaced population.
The arabs in the surrounding countries do care for the Palestinians as long as it’s not in their countries.
Separately, the historical employment arrangements for Gazans in Israel paint a complex picture of economic dependency and cross-cultural interactions. For years, due to limited opportunities within the Gaza Strip, Palestinians sought work in Israel across various sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and construction. This movement was not merely about employment but also about the sustenance of families back in Gaza.
At its zenith, daily crossings involved around 35,000 Palestinians, highlighting a significant economic interdependence. This dynamic, while beneficial in terms of income and employment, also had deeper implications for the socio-political fabric of the region, reflecting a nuanced relationship between economic necessity and regional tensions. I think it’s fair to say this arrangement is over at the 7th of October.
