BORN IN ISRAEL
The Pulse

From its inception as a mere concept, Born In Israel was not fully formed. It started as a vision, a fledgling idea without a concrete plan. From the moment I decided to pursue a career as a tour guide and field instructor, I was determined not to be just another narrator of facts and figures. Instead, I envisioned myself leading groups on an enthralling journey through the rich tapestry of history and realms of imagination.

Over time, Born In Israel developed a unique personality and character. I refined my guiding style and identified the kinds of experiences that most profoundly impacted my guests. Like a child growing and learning, Born In Israel expanded and matured. This evolution was marked not only by the growing number of tours and the diversity of topics covered but also by a deepening engagement with each visitor’s personal journey through Israel. As I guided travelers across ancient ruins, vibrant markets, and tranquil landscapes, Born In Israel became a conduit for transformative experiences, blending historical insights with contemporary relevance.

Each tour, each story told, each historical site visited contributed to a richer understanding of Israel, making Born In Israel a distinctive voice in cultural and historical exploration. My goal has always been to inspire curiosity, provoke thought, and evoke a sense of wonder, allowing every participant to leave with not just memories, but a profound connection to the land and its stories.

A pivotal moment came with the creation of the WhatsApp group “Israel Under Attack” during a time of conflict. This initiative transformed Born In Israel from a series of tours into a comprehensive digital platform offering insights into the ongoing events in the Middle East, not only for past tour participants but also for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the region.

From this digital platform, I expanded my endeavors into authorship, producing books that delve into historical, contemporary, and futuristic aspects of the Middle East. What started as a modest initiative by a single tour guide has blossomed into something far more significant and varied.

Yet, this is just the beginning.

My name is Shay Figenbaum, born and raised in Nes-Ziona, Israel, a town whose name signifies “Miracle of Zion.” As a certified tour guide endorsed by both the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Education, I bring more than just expertise; I am a storyteller and a bridge between the past and present. With a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, experience from army service on the Gaza border, and a life lived near contentious borders, I offer a unique perspective on every tour.

My understanding of the Israel-Palestinian conflict is deep and balanced, shaped by personal experiences and extensive study. My approach is about presenting perspectives from all sides, offering a comprehensive view of the complex picture.

Join me for an immersive experience that combines personal stories with academic insights, creating a narrative that is as educational as it is captivating. My passion extends beyond physical tours; through videos (the next project) and books, I focus on illuminating the nuanced narratives of the Middle East.
